AOI Images 33 Awards Night!

Last night I had the honor of attending the annual Images award ceremony at the LCC in London. There was some amazing pieces and it was a hugely inspiring night. Here's an extra cheesy pic of me by my two selected pieces "Teapot man and friends" and "Good bad conscience".

Illustrations for BAFTA Screen Lit Festival

Here are a series of illustrations I was recently commissioned to do for BAFTA in association with Rocliffe Writing Forum and Broadway Arts Cinema, Nottingham. I created 3 illustrations which formed the backdrops for the 3 plays. The plays were selected by BAFTA for up and coming writing talent. It was a fantastic evening and quite exciting for me to see my work on the cinema screen! Thank you to the wonderful Ursula Kelly for these beautiful photos taken on the evening.

This month I have mostly been.... printing with musical instruments!

A project commissioned by Sheffield based Graphic Designers Eskimo has led me to be printing with all sorts of weird and wonderful things of late! Everything from musical instruments to circuit boards. I've been really interested in the quality of the print I can get from various objects which I'll incorporate into the larger picture of the illustrations. Big thanks to Dave Mann's musical donations and electronic devices from Nottingham University- they've gone to good use! Thought I'd post a few pic's of me in action.
My photo
Inspired by Circuses, Victoriana, and Surrealism I create collage’s combining the past and present through a mixture of found imagery, illustration, photography and drawing. Working with collage and my trusted photocopier I create all of my work by hand, frequenting second hand shops, car boot sales and markets to build up my ever growing archive of second hand books, magazines, photographs and postcards. I always create my work by hand, only using a computer for layout at final stages. I like my illustration to have a certain tangibility, a quality that cannot be captured by digital means alone, even if that is as small as a blob of ink or a smudge on a photocopy.
