Preview of Eskimo Foe Commission
Here'e is the final proof for a project I've been working on with Shefield based Graphic Design company Eskimo Foe. The project is a collaboration between Youth Music, Toot Hill School and us to promote music making amongst young people in schools who would not normally get to experience worrkshops due to their geographical disadvantage.
The publication features photos and testimonials from the project accompanied by Futurism references by myself and Eskimo. Take a peek!

V&A Museum of Childhood
Beautiful and inspiring exhibit.
This museum is AMAZING! Well worth a visit if your heading to Bethnal Green.
The exhibition "Make do and Mend" combines the talents of local designers and school children. Jon Male, Lou Rota and Max McMurdo rework salvaged domestic and industrial waste to create stylish, quirky new products. Pieces featured range from lampshades to teacups and saucers to sock bunnies. Absolutely love these plates.
Crazy month...
My god what a crazy month! Apologies for the lack of posting recently, I've been ridiculously busy!
Here is a shot from the Apples and Pears market in Snienton on Saturday. I'm pleased to say the weather was very kind to us and lots of people showed their support. I had a cake stall next to me too- a pretty good position I think!

Illustrations for BAFTA Screen Lit Festival
Here are a series of illustrations I was recently commissioned to do for BAFTA in association with Rocliffe Writing Forum and Broadway Arts Cinema, Nottingham. I created 3 illustrations which formed the backdrops for the 3 plays. The plays were selected by BAFTA for up and coming writing talent. It was a fantastic evening and quite exciting for me to see my work on the cinema screen! Thank you to the wonderful Ursula Kelly for these beautiful photos taken on the evening.
This month I have mostly been.... printing with musical instruments!
A project commissioned by Sheffield based Graphic Designers Eskimo has led me to be printing with all sorts of weird and wonderful things of late! Everything from musical instruments to circuit boards. I've been really interested in the quality of the print I can get from various objects which I'll incorporate into the larger picture of the illustrations. Big thanks to Dave Mann's musical donations and electronic devices from Nottingham University- they've gone to good use! Thought I'd post a few pic's of me in action.

- Gemma Latimer
- Inspired by Circuses, Victoriana, and Surrealism I create collage’s combining the past and present through a mixture of found imagery, illustration, photography and drawing. Working with collage and my trusted photocopier I create all of my work by hand, frequenting second hand shops, car boot sales and markets to build up my ever growing archive of second hand books, magazines, photographs and postcards. I always create my work by hand, only using a computer for layout at final stages. I like my illustration to have a certain tangibility, a quality that cannot be captured by digital means alone, even if that is as small as a blob of ink or a smudge on a photocopy.
